With its naturally pristine features, Paradise Cave resembles a masterpiece of a landscape painting, captivating visitors with its timeless allure since its inauguration in 2010. As spelunkers delve deeper into its depths, they are enveloped in a sense of profound clarity and wonder. Rising up to 72 meters in height and stretching up to 150 meters in width, the cave boasts a magnificent array of white crystal stalactites, resembling majestic pillars, alongside numerous other awe-inspiring formations. Discovered by scientists from the British Caving Research Association in 2005, Paradise Cave, also known as Hang Thien Duong, spans an impressive length of 31.4 kilometers, making it the longest dry cave in Asia.
Phong Nha Cave not only stands as a natural marvel but also holds significant historical importance as part of the historic Ho Chi Minh trail. During the US war, it served as a clandestine refuge for floating bridges, strategically hidden to evade targeted bombings, and crucial for the supply chain from north to south. Additionally, it functioned as a covert hospital, fortified with defensive weaponry at its entrance. Despite being heavily bombarded upon its discovery, evident from its exterior scars, the area now showcases the initial stretch of the iconic Ho Chi Minh trail, offering visitors a glimpse into its rich history amidst a lush, mountainous landscape.
Our car and tour guide will pick up guests in Dong Hoi and drive you to Paradise Cave – the longest dry cave in Asia (located in Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park’s core zone). It is approximately 75 km from Dong Hoi and an 80-minute drive). -OR – 8:30 – 9:00: Our driver will pick you up at your hotel in Phong Nha village, then transfer you to Paradise Cave – the longest dry cave in Asia (located in Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park’s core zone).
You will then be taken by a golf cart (1.6km) from the main gate through the jungle, where you will then climb to the mouth of the cave; a climb that boasts spectacular views of the mountainous region around the cave.\
Lunch at a local restaurant in Phong Nha village. Here you will enjoy a traditional Vietnamese dish. Vegetarian option available. Don’t hesitate to get in touch with us in advance if you have any dietary restrictions and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Depart for Phong Nha Cave. You will then take a 25-minute ride to the cave by a traditional dragon boat. This cave is called a water cave as it exhibits an underground river. After going into the cave by boat, you will explore 300 meters into the cave on foot. Then, you will be taken back by boat. This cave is famous for its spectacular rock formations. It has been given names such as the “Lion”, the “Fairy Caves”, the “Royal Court”, and the “Buddha”.
Tour ends. Back to Phong Nha Village and 17:00 – 17:30: back to Dong Hoi, you will be dropped off at your hotel.
